Community Mural

Gibsonville, NC | Land of the Eno, Shakori, Occaneechi + Saponi

Painted + Designed by Gina Elizabeth Franco | Curated by Motley Local

June 2020

212 Main St. Gibsonville, NC. 20’ x 10’ ft.

Motley Local commissioned Greensboro-based artist Gina Elizabeth Franco to design and paint a mural that was informed and inspired by over +160 community survey responses published on social media platforms. The input gathered from April to May 2020—right after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic—on Instagram, Facebook, and Google Forms from residents, business owners, and city staff led to the graphic elements featured in the design to speak to the town’s history and future growth. This downtown mural is situated so that the vivid colors and graphics of this new addition can greet visitors as they drive into town.

This project was funded by the Town of Gibsonville.
